DTU Vice Chancellor Prof Pratik Sharma, highlighted the introduction of new programs and centers aimed at fostering all-round development, cutting-edge research, and enhanced corporate relations.

Starting from the academic year 2024-25, Delhi Technological University (DTU) will offer five-year integrated B.Sc. and M.Sc. programs in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biotechnology, and Economics. These programs are designed in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, providing multiple entry and exit options after the completion of requisite credits. This flexible curriculum aims to cater to diverse educational needs and career goals.

In addition to the integrated programs, DTU has also introduced M.Tech. (Research) with 12 seats this year. This program is heavily research-oriented, with two-thirds of the coursework dedicated to research and one-third to theoretical studies. The primary goal is to develop advanced research skills among students, equipping them to address complex societal challenges and pursue Ph.D. programs more efficiently.

To support these initiatives, DTU plans to establish five Centers of Excellence and Research:

Centre of Excellence in Energy Transition: Focused on research to help India achieve its net zero target by 2070.

Centre of Executive Education: Offering short-term courses for working professionals, ranging from 5 days to 1 year.

Centre of Excellence for Use of Drone Technology: Using DTU’s campus as a training ground for various drone applications.

Centre of Excellence in Disaster Risk Reduction: Promoting research aimed at mitigating risks from natural and man-made disasters.

Centre of Community Development and Research: Addressing local community issues through dedicated research.

Emphasizing the importance of accessible quality education, DTU is establishing an Office of Digital Education. This office will develop digital infrastructure, expand online learning platforms, and create comprehensive online course content with input from DTU’s esteemed faculty.

To strengthen industry ties, DTU is creating a Corporate Relationship Office. This office will assist researchers with intellectual property management and technology transfer, and engage with industries to effectively utilize their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds.

Professor Sharma stated, “These new programs and centers are a testament to DTU’s commitment to providing holistic education and fostering a research-driven environment. We aim to produce graduates who are not only academically proficient but also capable of addressing real-world challenges.”
