Govt Polytechnic College for Women Warangal wins innovation challenge at T-hub

A total of 11,823 students from over 490 colleges were trained on design thinking. Of the 824 innovation proposals, top 10 innovative ideas were chosen for the final showcase and top three concepts were declared winners. 

Students from the Government Polytechnic College for Women, Warangal, won the first prize for their concept of 'Rythanna Kit' , a tarpaulin zipped cover used to dry and protect grains from moisture and rain, in an innovation showcase event held at T-Hub.  

The event was conducted to engage the college youth of the state to address ground-level social issues through human-centric designs and entrepreneurial mindset development, under the Youth for Social Impact programme, a joint initiative by Telangana State Innovation Cell (TSIC), Department of Higher Education of Telangana, UNICEF India, Inqui-Lab Foundation, Y-Hub and YuWaah.  As many as 11,823 college students were trained on ‘Design Thinking and Innovation’ by these organisations. Of these, 10 teams were selected for showcasing their idea and the top three innovative ideas were declared winners. 

BVRIT, TSWRDC came 2nd, 3rd  

BVRIT College of Engineering for Women, Hyderabad, won the second prize for their concept, ‘Bite Systems: Suraksha’, a safety device that will act as a communication channel with safety features for underground mine workers, while Telangana Social Welfare Residential Degree College For Women (TSWRDC), Warangal East, bagged the third prize for their idea ‘Krimi Haarini’ that increases the shelf life of food grains. 
Special appreciation was given to St Ann’s College for Women for the idea of Porcini Parcels, a mushroom product for which packaging will replace thermocol, styrofoam and bubble wrap. 

The competition was organised by Youth for Social Impact (YFSI), a collective effort by Telangana State Innovation Cell (TSIC), department of Higher Education of Telangana, UNICEF India, Inqui-Lab Foundation, Y-Hub, and YuWaah.
