IIT Bombay Celebrates 62nd Convocation

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay held its 62nd Convocation and Departmental Degree Award Function (DDAF) across the academic units of the degree recipients. The DDAFs, part of the 62nd Convocation, were presided over by a Departmental Chief Guest, along with the Head of Department and faculty members.

During the 2023-24 academic year, IIT Bombay awarded a total of 3,303 degrees to 3,019 students, including 498 PhD degrees. Institute Director Prof. Shireesh Kedare congratulated the degree and medal recipients, as well as their parents. Vedang Dhirendra Asgaonkar, a B.Tech student from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, received the President of India Gold Medal, while Kaivalya Sanjay Daga, a BTech student from the Department of Mechanical Engineering, was honoured with the Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma Gold Medal.

Additionally, many students were honoured with gold and silver medals in recognition of their outstanding performance. During the 2023-24 academic year, IIT Bombay awarded a total of 3,309 degrees to 3,019 students, comprising 674 female and 2,345 male students. The undergraduate degrees awarded included 951 B.Tech, 358 Dual Degree (B.Tech+M.Tech), 100 Interdisciplinary Dual Degree (B.Tech/BS+M.Tech/M.Sc), 64 four-year BS, 10 Dual Degree (BS+M.Sc), 20 B.Des, 18 Dual Degree (B.Des+M.Des), and 31 three-year BS. For postgraduate degrees, the institute awarded 635 M.Tech, 46 MS by Research, 15 MA by Research, 4 Dual Degrees (M.Tech/M.Sc+MS by Research), 69 M.Des, 1 MA, 2 M.Phil, 290 two-year M.Sc, 110 MBA, 44 EMBA, 12 MPP, and 25 PGDIIT.

PhD Degree at IIT Bombay 62nd Convocation

A total of 498 PhD degrees were awarded during the 2023-24 academic year, including Dual Degrees (M.Tech/M.Phil+PhD, M.Sc+PhD), and joint PhDs in collaboration with Monash University and NTU. Among the 498 recipients, 191 were female and 307 were male students.
