IIT Bombay starts Rahul Bajaj Technology Innovation Centre
The foundation stone of Centre was laid in November 2018 by the then Chairman of Bajaj Groups, Rahul Bajaj.
The Rahul Bajaj Technology Innovation Centre (RBTIC) at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay was inaugurated today by Dr. R. A. Mashelkar, former Director General, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) to further innovation and enterprenuership.
The foundation stone of Centre was laid in November 2018 by the then Chairman of Bajaj Groups, Rahul Bajaj.
Director of IIT Bombay Prof. Subhasis Chaudhuri said, “Technology innovation being the key to the progress of the country, IIT Bombay lays a lot of emphasis on innovation and I am sure that the vision of late Rahul Bajaj will take us much further in our journey towards meeting that goal”.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chairman Bajaj Auto Limited Niraj Bajaj said: "On behalf of the Bajaj Family our heartiest compliments to IIT Bombay and its team for building such an iconic technology innovation centre. Shri Rahul Bajaj’s dream of establishing state-of-the-art research and innovation facility for igniting the minds of budding students and for the benefit of society at large has come true. Innovation, entrepreneurship and R&D were always close to his heart. Future belongs to the young. Our best wishes to them and RBTIC (Rahul Bajaj Technology and Innovation Centre) which will support them.”
A technology brochure titled IIT Bombay’s Ideas and Innovations for Society (IBIS) by the Industrial Research and Consultancy Centre was released by Dr. Mashelkar and Niraj Bajaj during the function. The book highlights more than 100 technologies developed in-house which are at various levels of technology readiness. Showcased technologies span from defense to healthcare, robotics to environment and sustainability, communication to clean energy etc.
