The Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi to engage in collaborative research and training. This agreement aims to drive research and innovation focused on the development of new medical devices and addressing health challenges that soldiers face in different terrains.

The MoU was signed by Director General Armed Forces Medical Services Lt Gen Daljit Singh and Director IIT Delhi Prof Rangan Banerjee. This partnership aims to leverage IIT Delhi’s capabilities to enhance medical research and educational opportunities in direct response to the unique needs of the Armed Forces.

IIT Delhi has a strong biomedical research ecosystem, perfectly suited to offer the technical expertise needed for addressing the wide range of medical challenges encountered within the Armed Forces, such as the rehabilitation of amputees. In line with the MoU, the collaboration will include a faculty exchange program, the initiation of joint academic activities, and the planning of joint PhD programs.

On this occasion, DGAFMS Lt Gen Daljit Singh informed that AFMS is dedicated to providing the highest level of medical care to soldiers and collaboration with institutes of national importance like IIT is a significant step towards this commitment. Director IIT Delhi Prof Rangan Banerjee stated that this MoU is full of possibilities for research and training beneficial to the nation and the Armed Forces.
