IIT Guwahati Recognised Globally in THE Impact Rankings 2024 for SDG Achievements

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has secured the 87th rank globally in SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings 2024. Furthermore, the institute has shown significant improvements in its overall rankings for SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 6 (Clean Water & Sanitation). These rankings evaluate universities worldwide based on their contributions to the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Overall, the Institute has retained its position in the 401–600 band for 2024. IIT Guwahati has remarkably improved its rankings in the following SDGs:
- SDG 1 (No Poverty): 401–600 band, improved from 601–800 last year
- SDG 4 (Quality Education): 201–300 band, improved from 601–800 last year
- SDG 6 (Clean Water & Sanitation): 101–200 band, improved from 301–400 last year

The 2024 edition of THE Impact Rankings marks its sixth installment, showcasing 2,152 universities from 125 countries and regions. These rankings are based on meticulously calibrated indicators across four key areas: Research, Stewardship, Outreach, and Teaching, offering a comprehensive and balanced comparison of universities globally.
