IIT Hyderabad Receives $9.6 Million Boost from ESKEYN Ventures for Healthcare Entrepreneurship

The Center for Healthcare Entrepreneurship (CfHE) at IIT Hyderabad is set to undergo significant growth in healthcare technology innovation, supported by a US$ 9.6 million (approximately Rs. 80 crores) contribution from Sushant Kumar, the founder of Tanushree Foundation and ESKEYN Ventures. This investment will further enhance CfHE's commitment to promoting the domestic development of technology in this essential sector. 

As a renowned Technology Business Incubator in healthcare, the Center is dedicated to fostering the rapid advancement and implementation of innovative healthcare solutions aimed at fulfilling unaddressed needs and enhancing patient care. The pledge marks a significant stride towards fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in the healthcare sector. 

Lauding the work underway at CfHE, Sushant Kumar, Founder of Tanushree Foundation and ESKEYN Ventures, stated, “I am excited to hear the innovations and success stories that have come out of CfHE. I am proud to be part of this vibrant ecosystem fostering innovation and entrepreneurship in the healthcare sector. The substantial investment will empower CfHE to expand its initiatives aimed at nurturing aspiring healthcare entrepreneurs, providing them with the resources, mentorship, and networking opportunities necessary to translate innovative ideas into impactful solutions.” 

Important Innovations of IIT Hyderabad CfHE

  • ArmAble, which is a neurorehabilitation device for stroke from the Start-up BeAble Health Pvt Ltd 
  • Nemocare Raksha is a small IoT-enabled wearable for safeguarding neonates from Nemocare Wellness Pvt Ltd 
  • Vaccine on Wheels platform enabling vaccinations at the last mile with a reach to 2.5 Million beneficiaries in 3 years from Jivika Healthcare Pvt Limited  

Thanking Sushant Kumar for his generous support, Prof. Renu John, Head, of Center for Healthcare Entrepreneurship (CfHE), IIT Hyderabad, said, "This pledge not only represents a significant financial contribution but also exemplifies a shared commitment to driving positive change through innovation and entrepreneurship." 

Recognising the critical need for innovation in medical devices and diagnostics, Prof. B.S. Murty said, “CfHE undertakes proactive efforts to address this gap through focused programs. With a vision for Aatma Nirbhar Bharat and Make in India, CfHE, IITH has taken bold steps in addressing this gap through focused programs in Medical Devices, Development of Human Resources, and Promotion of start-ups for indigenous development of medical devices and innovations."
