IIT Kharagpur commences admission counselling for 4-year Integrated BSc-BEd course under ITEP

It is a 4-year integrated Dual Major programme, with one major in Education and the other in any of the following four disciplines: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Economics.

IIT Kharagpur commences admission counselling for 4-year Integrated BSc-BEd course under ITEP

IIT Kharagpur has started admission counselling for a four-year Integrated BSc-BEd (Secondary Stage) course under the Integrated Teacher Education Program (ITEP).

Admission to the programme will be based on the NCET total score secured by the candidates in all seven subjects (e.g. Languages 1 and 2, Teaching Aptitude, General Test. Three relevant Domain-specific Subjects) covering four different sections. If a candidate is absent in the NCET Test of any of the seven subjects, that candidate will not be considered for admission.

The admission counseling for the B.Sc-B.Ed programme of IIT Kharagpur will be conducted by IIT Kharagpur. 

VK Tewari, Director, IT Kharagpur said, "With time, IT Kharagpur has expanded its ambit from offering Engineering to Sciences, Management, Law, Medical Science, Economics, Entrepreneurship, Financial Engineering and Humanities and Social Sciences. The School of Education has been established at IT Kharagpur with the objective to offer the Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) which is first of its kind in the IT system. In this 4 year integrated programme, the students will have a Dual Major undergraduate degree in a specific discipline along with B.Ed," as reported by anmnewsenglish.

It is a Dual-Major Bachelor’s Degree programme, with one Major in Education and the other in any of the following four disciplines: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Economics. In addition, it intends to develop student-teachers ethics of social engagement, and capacities such as problem-solving, critical and creative thinking, communication skills, ethical and moral reasoning, etc.

The students joining this programme shall be specialized in the Secondary Stage of School Education, which will qualify them to become teachers at that stage.
