IIT Madras admissions 2023 open for MA in humanities, social science; GATE Score mandatory
Candidates can apply for the course through the master of technology (MTech) and master of arts (MA) admission portal- mtechadm.iitm.ac.in till April 7, 2023.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras has invited applications for registration to its master's programme in humanities, social science. Interested candidates must note that valid GATE score is mandatory for this programme.

Candidates can apply for the course through the master of technology (MTech) and master of arts (MA) admission portal- mtechadm.iitm.ac.in till April 7, 2023. The two-year master’s programme offered in development studies, English, and economics will be starting in July 2023. The applicants are required to complete a minimum of 200 credits to be eligible for the MA degree.
The master's programme in development studies aims to provide training and support in- higher education and academia, and policy and governance. The course will help students to develop their interests and career possibilities through elective courses such as sociology, anthropology, history, and science and technology studies. The MA in economics programme will offer students with theoretical knowledge in economic sciences through a combination of core and elective courses which will familiarize students with recent developments in the field and equip them to address contemporary economic problems.
25 seats under each stream
Each stream will have 25 seats for Indian students while the seats for foreign students will be supernumerary. The students of each stream will be having the option of upgrading to PhD program as per the IITM guidelines. The MA in English studies programme includes topics such as introduction to literature, culture, and language through historical and theoretical frameworks from interdisciplinary humanistic and critical perspectives. The course will be training students with skills in public and private sectors such as publishing, teaching and research institutions, journalism, advertising, marketing and public relations agencies.
