IIT Madras Teams Up with Sony India to Offer Free Training Program for Engineering Students

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation announced a new partership with Sony India Software Centre Pvt Ltd. This collaboration seeks to empower engineering college students by imparting technical education that aligns with industry standards, ensuring they are well-prepared for professional endeavours.
According to IIT-M, specialized training will cover disciplines like AI/ML, Product Security, and Computer Graphics. This tuition-free program includes stipends awarded based on specific criteria. Approximately 30 students will be handpicked by IIT-M Pravartak and Sony India to participate in the Finishing School Training Program.
As per the updates, the IIT Madras second batch of the training program will start in the third week of January 2024. The last date to apply is January 10, 2024. Candidates can check the official website: sonyfs.pravartak.org.in to get more information.
Who are eligible for Free Training Programs?
To be eligible for the training programe, applicants should have an Engineering degree in ECE, CSE & EEE degree with a minimum 60% aggregate. Also, the training is for the students who passed out in 2021-2022, and 2022-23. They will also be eligible for stipend.
How will Engineering students be selected for Free Training Program?
The selection will be done based on criteria such as Academic performance, Parental Income, and the student’s performance in an entrance exam on aptitude/analytical test followed by an interview. The entrance exam will be conducted at the selected centres in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Maharashtra.
After the completion of program, Sony India will select a number of top achievers via their standard procedure. Meanwhile, IITM Pravartak will support the rest of the students in securing placements at other companies by facilitating interviews through their placement cell. Depending on their performance, these companies may extend full-time job offers to these students.
