This MoA outlines the intention to engage IIT Patna as a consultant to conduct the Research & Development project named “Advanced Geological Models for Rock Identification in Tunneling Projects” for SJVN, based on mutually agreed-upon terms and conditions. SJVN is on a strategic path to expand its capacity to 25,000 MW by 2030 and aims to double this milestone, reaching 50,000 MW by 2040.

This MoA aims to achieve the following objectives:

  • IIT Patna is set to devise methods for combining various geo-technical data sources such as geological surveys, borehole data, geophysical measurements, and historical project monitoring data at the SJVN site
  • Identify and analyse potential risks and hazards using integrated geotechnical data and 3D geological models
  • Evaluate the relationship between overburden and deformation to enhance support system evaluation and design
  • To reduce the hazard, time and cost of the project which will make the project more viable and sustainable
