IIT placements: 3 IITians receive whopping INR 4 crore package

IIT placements: Three students from IIT Delhi, Bombay and Kanpur bagged this pre-placement offer (PPO) for an international posting by Jane Street. 

Placements at Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) kicked off on a high note with three students from the Delhi, Kanpur, and Bombay campuses bagging pre-placement offers (PPOs) worth INR 4 crore. 

The candidates who received an offer of whopping INR 4 crore were offered an international posting by the trading firm Jane Street. While 25 students of IIT Madras bagged INR 1 crore per annum package on day 1 and session 1 of campus placements, students of IIT Guwahati received highest international offer of INR 2.4 crore and domestic offer of INR 1.1 crore. A total of 15 international offers were received from four companies at the end of session 1.1 at IIT Madras. 

At IIT Roorkee, the highest domestic offer was made for INR 1.30 crore, while the highest international offer was made for INR 1.06 crore. A total of 10 students received offers worth INR 80 lakh. 

Several tech companies have slowed down hiring fearing recession. News reports had earlier hinted that the global slowdown in tech may affect the placements of students at IITs. But the impact will be lesser as compared to other engineering colleges in India. However, this year, despite mass layoffs, several IITs have seen a spurt in PPOs. Students of IIT Guwahati bagged 218 PPOs.
