JEE Advanced 2023: Delhi HC dismisses plea seeking compensatory attempt for students
The petition was filed by 67 students who completed their Class 12 in 2021 and were impacted by Covid 19 pandemic and could not use their opportunity of JEE Advanced examination.
The Delhi High Court today dismissed a plea seeking relaxation for the students appearing in JEE Advanced 2023 examination, Live Law reported.
Justice Purushaind Kumar Kaurav rejected the plea moved by the 67 students who completed their Class 12 in the year 2021 and were impacted by Covid 19 pandemic and could not use their opportunity of JEE Advanced Examination. Further the petition demands that these students should be allowed to appear for a "compensatory attempt".
The plea sought relaxation of "Two attempts in Two consecutive years" criteria so that the students who could not appear once or even twice in 2021 and 2022, be allowed to appear in 2023 as a special provision or compensatory attempt.
A relaxation was also sought regarding the criteria of 75 per cent aggregate marks in the Class XII Board examination to get admission to IIT. It was the petitioners’ case that due to the exceptional circumstances created by the COVID-19 pandemic, the relaxation of eligibility criteria through a one-time measure in JEE Advanced 2022 for students who passed out class 12th in 2020 was need of the hour, the report added.
