JoSAA is responsible for the joint seat allocation process for admissions to 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 25 IIITs and 28 Other GFTIs. JoSAA 2023 counselling will be held after the JEE Advanced 2023 result is out. JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) has been set up by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) to manage and regulate joint seat allocation for admissions to over 100 institutes including IITs, NITs, IIITs, and Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs). The tentative Start of the Joint Seat Allocation (JoSAA) 2023 Process is June 19.

Note that the candidates who will get minimum aggregate marks in JEE Advanced 2023 will be included in the rank list for counselling and seat allotment. The minimum aggregate marks required category wise is as follows:

• Display of candidates' responses: June 9
• Provisional answer key: June 11
• Feedback and comments on provisional answer keys: June 11 and 12
• Final answer key and result: June 18
• JoSAA counselling: June 19 onwards.

Maths questions were moderate in terms of difficulty level. Topic-wise number of questions:

• In each part there were Four sections in both the papers:

As per the JEE Advanced 2023 paper analysis of both papers 1 and 2, Maths was the toughest section. The section was lengthy. Most of the questions in Maths were from  Functions, Differential Equations, Inverse Trigonometric functions, Differentiability, Vectors, 3D Geometry, Application of Derivatives, Complex Numbers, Matrices, Circle Permutation & Combination and Probability. 

JEE Advanced 2023 records 95% attendance. Nearly 23,000 students from IIT Kanpur zone. A total of 1,89,744 candidates registered for JEE Advanced 2023 and 1,80,226 candidates appeared for both papers.

• Students found the overall level of paper moderate to difficult level but not easy.
• Some students have reported Physics was Easy, Chemistry was Moderate, but Maths was relatively difficult.
• Chemistry was not balanced as per students. Inorganic Chemistry had few questions which were directly from NCERT. In Physical Chemistry questions covered chapters of Chemical Kinetics, Ionic & Chemical Equilibrium, Electrochemistry, Atomic Structure. Thermodynamics (with more than one question). In Organic Chemistry, questions mostly asked from Amines, Polymers, Biomolecules, Oxygen containing Compounds, some named reactions were also asked. Mixed concepts questions were asked. This section was reported Moderate as per students. More weightage given to Organic Chemistry.

The official answer key of JEE Advanced 2023 will be out on June 11 and the answer keys will be available for challenge till June 12. Final answer key and result will be out on June 18.

Sec-IV had (04) Four questions based on Two Paragraphs with (02) Two questions in each paragraph (Numerical based Decimal Type with answer correct to 2 decimal places). Marking scheme in this section:

• Full marks: +3 for the correct answer.
• Zero Marks: 0 in all other cases.

Paper-2: Immediate reaction of students: Students found the overall level of paper Moderate to Difficult level but not easy. Some students have reported Physics and Chemistry were Moderate, but Maths was relatively difficult.

Chemistry was Tricky as per students. More weightage was given to Organic & Physical Chemistry as compared to Inorganic. Inorganic Chemistry had a few questions which were directly from NCERT. In Physical Chemistry, questions covered Chemical Kinetics, Ionic & Chemical Equilibrium, Electrochemistry, and Thermodynamics (with more than one question). In Organic Chemistry, questions are mostly asked from Aryl & Alkyl halides, Amines, Polymers, Biomolecules, and Oxygen-containing Compounds. Mixed concepts questions were asked. This section was reported Moderate as per students.

Physics had more weightage for chapters like Wave & Sound, Wave Optics, Fluids, EM Waves,  Thermodynamics, Modern Physics, Current Electricity, Kinematics, Gravitation, and Electrostatics. Overall, Physics was Moderate as per students. Students felt this section was not balanced. Some questions had tricky & Lengthy calculations.

Mathematics was unbalanced & tricky as per students. There were questions from Functions, Differential Equations, Inverse Trigonometric functions, Differentiability, Vectors, 3D Geometry, Application of Derivatives, Complex Numbers, Matrices, Circle Permutation & Combination and Probability. Students felt this section was the Toughest.
No mistakes reported till now as the complete paper is yet to be analysed.

The total no. of questions in Paper-1 was 51. Total Marks of Paper-2 was 180 which is the same as last year. As the Test was Computer Based students had the option to Clear Response to change any option, they could mark it for Review, Save and next to proceed further. Scribble Pads were given to students during the exam for rough work.

• JEE Advanced 2023 Paper 2 was tougher than Paper 1 and can be categorized as Moderate to Tough.
• Compared to last year, the paper was easier.
• Paper 2 Mathematics was lengthy and the most difficult section in the paper just like in paper 1.
• Paper 2 Physics, however, was a lot tougher than Paper 1. Students rated Paper 1 Physics as Easy to Moderate but Paper 2 Physics as Above Moderate.
• Chemistry in both papers was at a similar easy to moderate difficulty level. It had some numerical questions mixing organic and physical chemistry which seemed slightly tough to the students.
• The paper pattern asked in Paper 1 and Paper 2 was the same except instead of Matching List questions in Paper 1, JEE Advanced Paper 2 had Paragraph-based questions.

IIT Guwahati will release the JEE Advanced 2023 official answer key on June 11 and the response sheets will be uploaded on June 9.

No mistakes have been reported till now, but the complete paper is yet to be analysed.

On May 30, the Supreme Court dismissed a plea challenging the eligibility criterion of 75 per cent score in higher secondary or Class 12 examination for admission to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). The vacation bench of the judges said that this prerequisite existed earlier as well and the court was not inclined to intervene in the matter.

Paper 2 of JEE Advanced 2023 exam is now over. With this IIT Guwahati has successfully conducted te JEE Advanced 2023 exam.

Only those candidates who score the minimum prescribed marks in each subject and also in aggregate will be included in the JEE Advanced 2023 rank list. Check the JEE Advanced 2023 cutoff marks below:

Physics: 4 questions were from Heat and Thermodynamics, 3 questions were from Optics, and good weightage was also given to Mechanics.

Chemistry: There were 6 reaction-based questions. 7 questions were from Organic chemistry and 5 questions each were from Physical and Inorganic chemistry. Most of the Matching List questions were from Physical chemistry.

Mathematics: 5 questions were from Calculus, 2 questions from Probability, and 1 question each from Vectors & 3D, Sequence & Series, Trigonometry, Matrx & Determinants, and Binomial Theorem.

The exam pattern for JEE Advanced 2023 paper 1 was as follows:

Each subject of Maths, Physics and Chemistry had 4 sections.

Section 1 had -2 negative marking and +4 for correct answers.

In section 2, the negative marking was -1.

In section 3, the negative marking was 0 negative marking for wrong answers. This section had integer-type questions.

Section 4 had matrix match type questions with -1 negative marking for wrong answers.

In Paper 1 the following types of questions were asked:

• Types of questions asked in Paper 1: Single option correct, More than one option correct, Integer Type
• Number of Single option correct& questions asked: 8 questions
• Number of More than one option correct questions asked: 6 questions
• Number of Integer Type questions asked: 4 questions

In maths, vectors and 3D carried high weightage.

In Chemistry, organic chemistry carried high weightage and many reactions were asked.

In physics, many questions were asked from thermodynamics.

18-20 questions were easy and doable.

As per past year trends the paper 2 is expected to be a bit more difficult than paper 1.

As per a few candidates, paper 1 carried a total of 180 marks. The paper 2 exam will start at 2:30 pm.

To check scores using the JEE Advanced answer key, candidates have to follow the marking scheme of the exam. The marking scheme of the exam is displayed on the JEE Advanced online question paper.

The broad types of questions that are asked in JEE Advanced are:

• Single correct
• Multiple correct
• Numerical type
• Paragraph type

• Question stem (Paragraph type question with answer in numerical form) - new in 2021

There are questions of 1 mark, 2 marks, 3 marks and 4 marks. There are also questions with negative markings of -1, -2, etc. Candidates must read the instructions on the question paper properly regarding the marking scheme.

Paper 1 of JEE Advanced 2023 will end at 12 noon. Candidates will be able to check students' reactions, analysis and memory-based questions, answers soon after.

• To select the option, click on the corresponding button of the option.
• To deselect the chosen answer, click on the button of the chosen option again or click on the “Clear Response” button.
• To save the answer, the candidate must click on the “Save & Next” button.
• To mark the question for review (with or without answering it), click on the “Mark for Review & Next” button.

At any given time, do not use the physical keyboard. Use only the pointer/mouse, virtual keyboard and virtual calculator for writing/choosing answers, doing calculations. For questions that require inputs – questions that are not MCQs – follow these steps:

• A virtual keyboard will appear on the screen just below the question statement of these types of questions. Use the on-screen virtual keyboard to enter the answer in the required space with the help of the mouse.
• The answer can be changed, if required, at any time during the test. To save the answer, click on the “Save & Next” button.
• To mark the question for review (with or without answering it), click on the “Mark for Review & Next” button.

Yes, candidates can carry a transparent water bottle to the exam centre. Candidates are allowed to carry pens, pencils, drinking water in transparent bottles, a downloaded admit card, and an original photo identity card only.

The total marks and questions in JEE Advanced 2023 exam keep changing every year.

Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates with 40% disability appearing for JEE Advanced 2023 were able to choose scribes as candidates will not be allowed personal scribes. The scribe will only read the question paper to the candidate and key the answer provided by the candidate.

IIT Guwahati will announce the JEE Advanced 2023 result on June 18, 2023. The result will be available on the official website, jeeadv.ac.in.

The paper 1 exam has started and the paper 2 exam is scheduled to start at 2:30 pm. The paper 1 exam in shift 1 will end at 12 noon.

In each part there are three sections-

• Sec-I (Max. marks- 24)
• Sec-II (Max. Marks- 24)

• Sec-I had (08) Eight questions- with integer type answers, the answer of which was a positive number only.

Marking scheme in this section:

• Full marks: +3 for the correct answer
• Zero Marks: 0 if unattempted

Sec-II had (06) Six questions with four options in which ONE OR MORE THAN ONE option(s) were correct. Marking scheme in this section:

• Full marks: +4  If only (all)  the correct options are chosen
• Partial Marks: +3 If all the four options are correct but ONLY three correct options are chosen
• Partial Marks: +2 If three or more options are correct but only two correct options are chosen
• Partial Marks: +1 If two or more options are correct but only one correct option is chosen

On the day of the exam, candidates must carry a printed copy of the downloaded admit card and their valid original photo identity card, any one of the following:

Candidates must also carry their own pen / pencil for rough work. Rough sheets will be given to the candidates inside the exam hall.

The marks obtained by a candidate in Physics in JEE Advanced 2023 will be equal to the marks scored in the Physics part of Paper 1 plus the marks scored in the Physics part of Paper 2. Marks obtained in Chemistry and Mathematics will be calculated in the same way. The aggregate marks obtained by a candidate in JEE (Advanced) 2023 will be the sum of the marks awarded to the candidate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Section 3:

• This section contains FOUR (04) Matching List Sets.
• Each set has ONE Multiple Choice Question.
• Each set has TWO lists: List­I and List­II.
• List­ I has Four entries (I), (II), (III) and (IV) and List­II has Five entries (P), (Q), (R), (S) and (T).
• FOUR options are given in each Multiple Choice Question based on List­I and List­II and ONLY ONE of these four options satisfies the condition asked in the Multiple Choice Question.
• Answers to each question will be evaluated according to the following marking scheme:
  • Full Marks: +3 ONLY if the option corresponding to the correct combination is chosen;
  • Zero Marks : 0   If none of the options is chosen (i.e. the question is unanswered);  
  • Negative Marks: −1  In all other cases.
