JEE Advanced 2024: Books to Grab for an All-Round Preparation

JEE Advanced 2024 is the qualifying examination for the IITs. The top 2.5 lakh candidates of JEE Main 2024 will be able to apply for this exam and stand a chance to enter the gates of IITs. Cracking JEE Advanced comes no easy. It takes years of preparation and hard work. The resources used for JEE Advanced preparation must be well-researched and proven to provide good support to the candidates.

Books are an important resource for JEE Advanced preparation. Candidates must select books for the exam that clear the concepts, have extensive question banks, contain previous year questions, and have an easy-to-understand language. The best way to go about a JEE preparation is to study the class notes with a great deal of concentration and then pick up a good book for more theory or practice. For the candidates who are preparing by themselves and have not joined any coaching classes, books are your best friend. Here are some great books for JEE Advanced preparation for physics, chemistry and maths.

JEE Advanced Books for Physics

For Physics the best book suggested by the toppers is HC Verma. It is suggested to solve the MCQs and the subjective problems. Followed by HC Verma is IE Irodov, this book is good for solving problems. And, not to forget, NCERT is a must for covering the basics.

Additionally, toppers also recommended University Physics by Young and Freedman, and Physics for JEE Advanced by Resnick, Halliday, and Walker.

JEE Advanced Books for Maths

JEE maths is tricky and has interesting questions. Over the years, the trickiness of JEE questions has shifted to the maths section from physics. Hence candidates must put some good effort into this subject. Therefore, candidates must refer to the following books for each topic as the toppers suggest:

• Cengage for Algebra, Vector and 3D Geometry and Trigonometry.
• For calculus and coordinate geometry, candidates can prefer Arihant or Sameer Bansal (GRB publications), which is great for calculus with new and interesting questions.
• For permutation and combination, Asit Dasgupta can be referred to.

Do not skip NCERT for maths either. Solve the inside examples as well as all the exercises given in the book.

JEE Advanced Books for Chemistry

For Chemistry NCERT is the holy bible. To get hold of problem-solving and practice a variety of questions aspirants must dive into various good books like:

• Physical Chemistry by O.P. Tandon
• Organic Chemistry by Morrison and Boyd
• Inorganic Chemistry by J.D. Lee
• Organic Chemistry by Paula Yurkanis Bruice

JEE Advanced 2024 is scheduled to take place in June 2024. Tentatively, the online application form will be available from the last week of April 2024. JEE Advanced is a computer-based test (CBT) consisting of two papers in total, each with three sections: Physics, Chemistry, and Maths. Candidates must attempt both papers 1 and 2 to be eligible for admission to the IITs. The marking scheme and question distribution in the exam change every year.
