JEE Main 2023 not postponed: JEE Main January session will now be held as per schedule between January 24 and 31, 2023.

The Bombay High Court today refused to postpone JEE Main 2023 Session 1 exam. The engineering entrance exam JEE Main 2023 will go ahead as per schedule and wonโ€™t be delayed. The JEE Main 2023 first session will be conducted between January 24 and 31, 2023, while the JEE Main second session will be held between April 6 and 12, 2023.

During hearing, the Bombay High Court said, "Any orders passed to postpone may have a cascading effect. If a student does not fare well in JEE January, he can compete in April. Extraordinary circumstances don't seem to exist. It wouldn't be appropriate to restrain the respondent from conducting a pan India exam."

75% criteria will be considered during admission in June: Court

It further said, "As far as the challenge to the eligibility criteria is concerned, the counsel for petitioner seeks time to file rejoinder and argue. It will be relevant at the time of admission to the course after June 2023." The Bombay High Court has also asked the petitioner activist Anubha Srivastava Sahai to file rejoinder. The next hearing will be held on February 21, 2023.

Sahai had filed a petition on December 26, which stated that the Class 12 pre-board exams, viva voce of CBSE, ICSE and other state boards are scheduled to be held in January. The clash between JEE Main 2023 and Class 12 pre-board exams will result in less number of students appearing for JEE Main 2023 Session 1.

The plea also mentions that the notification for the JEE Mains exam was issued on short notice and same would cause difficulties to students. Earlier on January 4, the matter was heard by the bench comprising Acting Chief Justice of Bombay HC SV Gangarpurwala and Justice Sandeep V Marne who adjourned the case for today, January 10. The Bombay High Court had given the petitioner more time to file the brochure for the JEE Main 2023 exam on record.
