The JEE Main 2025 guidelines for the use of a scribe by persons with benchmark disability will entitle them to select their scribe and an additional time of not less than 20 minutes per subject. The JEE Main notification 2025 for scribe also enlists the guidelines every candidate with a benchmark disability needs to follow to get a certificate issued by the competent medical authority.

The National Testing Agency has issued fresh guidelines for the use of scribe by persons with benchmark disabilities in the JEE Main 2025 exam. As per the new scribe guidelines for JEE Main 2025, the right of persons with benchmark disability Act 2016 would entitle the candidate to use of scribe as per the law.

The JEE Main 2025 candidate with benchmark disability will have the option to select his or her own scribe/reader/lab assistant. Also all such candidates will be provided an extra time of not less than 20 minutes per subject.

The definition of persons with benchmark disability means a person not less than forty percent of a specified disability where specified disability has been defined in measurable terms as certified by the competent authority.

In case of a person with benchmark disability in the category of blindness, locomotor disability (both arms affected-BA) and cerebral palsy, the facility of scribe/reader/lab assistant shall be given, if so is required by the person.

The facility of scribe for JEE Main 2025 exam shall be given only to those candidates who have difficulty in writing, subject to production of a certificate to the effect, that person concerned has limitation to write and that the scribe is essential for writing the exam.

All such candidates need to get medical certificate issued by the competent authority which include

  • Chief Medical Officer/Civil Surgeon/Chief District Medical Officer/PMR Specialist
  • Orthopedic/PMR Specialist
  • Neurologist
  • Clinical Psychologist
  • Occupational Therapist

The JEE Main 2025 Exam Date will be announced soon by the NTA. The exam will be conducted in two sessions in January and April. JEE Main application form 2025 will be released soon.

NTA has announced the JEE Main 2025 exam date session 1 and 2. The session 1 exam will be conducted from January 22 to 31, 2025 while the session 2 will be held from April 1 to 8, 2025. NTA has started JEE Main 2025 session 1 registration. JEE Main Application form 2025 session 1 is available on the website jeemain.nta.nic.in. 

Q:   Are calculators allowed inside exam centre in JEE Main exam?

Students are not allowed to carry calculators inside the exam centre in JEE Main exam. Students can use the virtual calculator available on the screen during the exam. Virtual calculators will be available on the computer screen of students during the JEE Main exam.
