JEE Main scam: NSUI protests outside Education Minister’s residence
The protests came after the CBI raided 20 locations across India over a case related to alleged irregularities committed in JEE Main 2021 by a private educational institute.
The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) held a protest outside the house of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged JEE Main 2021 scam. During the protest, the police detained NSUI national president Neeraj Kundan and other activists. Several activists were also injured in the lathi charge. The protesters jumped over barricades during their protest, where they alleged that money was being paid in exchange for IIT seats. They also raised slogans against the ruling BJP government.
On September 2, the CBI raided 20 locations across the country in and around Delhi, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra in a case relating to alleged irregularities committed by a private institution in the JEE Main 2021 exam.
The CBI has detained seven persons for allegedly trying to subvert the JEE Main. The accused used to charge around Rs 15 lakh from candidates in exchange for someone else taking the JEE Main examination. In connection with irregularities in the JEE Main scam, CBI has sent coaching institute, Affinity Education Directors Siddharth Krishna and Vishambar Mani Tripathi, and an employee Hritik Singh to CBI custody till September 9.
During the examination to avoid getting caught, students had to hold the mouse, while the solver used to solve the questions with remote access.
Meanwhile, senior CBI officials have assured that bona fide candidates need not worry.
