JoSAA 2024 Counselling: The JoSAA 2024 counselling registration is ongoing. It was started on June 10 and will conclude on June 18, 2024. About Preparatory Courses
Preparatory courses are conducted by the IITs, and the duration is one year. The course is conducted for SC, ST, and PwD candidates. In case the seats reserved for SC, ST, and PwD candidates are not filled completely, a limited number of candidates are admitted to a preparatory course of one-year duration on the basis of further relaxation of admission criteria.
Admission is provided to the candidates in the preparatory course;
(a) the seats reserved for the respective category are vacant
(b) candidates satisfy the norms for preparatory courses
(c) candidate has not accepted offer of admission to preparatory course earlier.
After the completion of the course, the candidate will be offered direct admission to the academic year 2025-2026 to the first year of the already allocated undergraduate course in the institute where they are allotted a seat via JoSAA 2024. Also, candidates admitted to the preparatory course are also eligible to appear for JEE (Advanced) 2025, subject to fulfilling other eligibility criteria. The filling-in of choices for preparatory courses is also done through the same online portal and during the same schedule.
The institute at which a one-year preparatory course is run for a candidate may be different from the institute allocated to the candidate for their academic program.
