In order to assist the students, the Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank decided to hold his second webinar.

Millions of students are forced to study from home due to the outbreak of the contagious virus COVID-19. Suspended classes, closed academic institutions and postponed exams due to the nationwide lockdown imposed in order to control the COVID-19 spread created a lot of confusion among the students and their parents.

In order to assist the students, the Union Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank decided to hold his second webinar. On his personal Twitter handle, the minister asked students to share their queries related to the education, pending exams and exam results. According to the tweet posted by the education minister, the live session will be conducted on Twitter and Facebook at 12 noon today i.e. May 5. The minister has asked students to start sharing their queries over tweets by writing to him with the hashtag –  #EducationMinisterGoesLive. The tweet soon went viral and questions the social media platform got flooded with concerns and queries.

While some asked questions related to the postponed board exams and delayed admission process, others stressed the upcoming academic year, the impact of online education on children, fees hike despite government’s orders and more. Meanwhile, many reports also suggest that the education minister will be releasing new dates for JEE Main 2020 April exam and NEET 2020 exams during this webinar.

12:48: More than 16 lakh students are to appear for NEET 2020 exam. The exam will be conducted on July 26, 2020. 

12:41: JEE Main exams to be conducted on July 19, 2020, to July 23, 2020. JEE advance 2020 to be conducted in the month of August. 

12:40: CBSE 12th exam of the said 29 main subjects expected to conducted as soon as the board decides. The board will release CBSE Class 10 Date Sheet 2020 and CBSE Class 12 Date Sheet 2020 for the pending board exams to be out in 1-2 days. Students need not appear for those exams that they have already given. 

12:39: National digital library has over 4 crore study material. 

12:38: The government is trying its best to save the academic year of the students.

12:35: The government took the decision to reduce the academic syllabus for the upcoming academic session to help out students and reduce the pressure.

12:33: Students are advised to prepare a journal. The pandemic has happened after 100 years, students should write their thoughts about the prevailing times. 

12:32: All CBSE and NCERT books are available in every state. Students are requested to inform the ministry if they are facing problems finding books. 

12:29: The government will strategize with CBSE to make arrangements for students living in other countries. Students in UAE studying in CBSE school to be provided online classes.

CBSE chairman to connect with the education minister of the respective countries and decide. 

12:25: IITs and NITs are advised not to increase their fees this year, but the decision is theirs.

12:23: More than 80% of stranded students have reached their homes. The government is making all the arrangements to send the rest of the students to their homes. Special arrangements are being for students staying in JNV hostels. The Government is trying to send these students to their homes. 

12:21: Parents must support students and should not pressurize them to study amid these prevailing times of difficulty. 

12:18: Books shops are open and study material is available offline as well as online. SWAYAM and SWAYAM Prabha are available on DTH, Doordarshan, Tata Sky and more. Students facing problems with the internet can study through classes available on television. Various NCERT resources are available through classes available on television. 

12:16: UGC directed all the universities to form special COVID-19 cells which will assist students regarding all the confusion linked with the new academic sessions, university exams and more. A website is being created with all the common queries and students can consult the same for further queries.

12:14: Pending university exams will begin from  July 1 and by the end of July authorities will try to release results for the same. The new academic session will begin in August. Follow UGC guidelines 2020 for all the details. 

12:10: Study material is uploaded on multiple e-learning platforms such as the Diksha portal. Students can start their preparation using the study material available online. E-pathshala has academic material for classes 1 to 12 in the form of e-books, videos, audios etc .

12:06 pm: Students are requested to stay calm amid these times of crisis

Meanwhile, India is going through the third phase of the nationwide lockdown. Considering the prevailing health emergencies, the Ministry of Home Affairs announced the further extension of the lockdown on May 1 until May 17. The extension of the lockdown further extended the closure of the universities, colleges, schools and other academic institutions. The postponement of exams, delays in results and the beginning of the next academic session are causing a lot of anxiety and stress among the students. Considering the effect of the pandemic on the mental health of the students, the education minister decided to address to the students to give their issues some relief.
