MHT CET 2024: Registration for Engineering, Pharmacy, and Agriculture Up 14% Despite IT Challenges

Maharashtra CET 2024: This year, the MHT CET 2024 has seen a significant 14% rise in the number of candidates applying for engineering, pharmacy, and agricultural courses, with nearly 90,000 additional applicants than in past years. Also, 49 transgender candidates registrations have been recorded in 2024. Contrary to expectations of a decline due to challenges in the IT sector, enthusiasm has remained strong, largely due to the promising prospects in AI and related fields.
Candidates interested in enrolling in state engineering colleges take the MHT CET exam. Recently, there has been an increase in the number of candidates, attributed to the introduction of new courses by the All-India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). These courses include artificial intelligence and machine learning, data sciences, and data analytics, according to a CET cell official. The official noted that these courses are in high demand, leading colleges to expand their offerings to include them.
MHT CET Registration Statistics
As per TOI reports, the number of applicants willing to get admissions in engineering, pharmacy, and agricultural education in the state has risen by 14%. Nearly 90,000 additional candidates have applied for MHT CET 2024 statewide, totaling 7.25 lakh applicants. In the 2021-22 academic year, over 5 lakh candidates applied for the MHT-CET. The following year, this number increased to 6.07 lakh. Since last year, there has been an increase of 88,228 applicants, with a significant rise in the PCM (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) group. An official mentioned that candidates in the PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) group also take the NEET-UG exam for entry into MBBS, BDS, and other health science courses.
