India Rankings 2024 has seen a remarkable rise in institutional engagement, with a total of 6,517 unique institutions applying across various categories, up from 2,426 in 2016. This represents a significant 168.63% increase in unique applicants. The total number of applications surged to 10,845 from 3,565 in 2016, marking a 204.21% increase.

Overall Participation: A notable increase in institutional participation underscores the growing recognition of the ranking system as fair and transparent.
Category Breakdown: Of the total applications, 2,781 were for the Overall category, 1,463 for Engineering, and 3,371 for General Degree Colleges.
Changes in Ranked Institutions:
Historical Ranking Structure: Traditionally, 100 institutions have been ranked in the Overall, Universities, Engineering, and College categories. Recent expansions include increased rankings in Management and Pharmacy from 75 to 100 each, and additional rankings in new categories like State Public Universities and Innovation Institutions.

Indian Institute of Technology Madras continues its dominance, securing the 1st position in the Overall and Engineering categories for six and nine consecutive years, respectively.
Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru leads the Universities category for nine years and tops the Research Institutions category for four years.
IIM Ahmedabad maintains its top spot in Management for five consecutive years.
AIIMS New Delhi remains the leader in Medical for seven years and is ranked 7th in the Overall category.
Jamia Hamdard tops Pharmacy after previously holding the top spot from 2019 to 2022.
Hindu College claims 1st place among Colleges, replacing Miranda House, which had held the position for seven years.
IIT Roorkee retains the top spot in Architecture and Planning for four years.
