NITIE Mumbai Director gets David F Baker Distinguished Research Award
The award, which is given once a year, honours individuals who have made significant contributions to the industrial engineering profession through outstanding research activity that has benefited practitioners, organisations, or other researchers.
Professor Manoj Kumar Tiwari, Director of the National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE) Mumbai,, has been honoured with the prestigious David F Baker Distinguished Research Award from the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE). As per the data available on the website of the institute, Prof Tiwari is the first-ever researcher and professional based in India to receive this award, The Indian Express reported.
The award, which is given once a year, honours individuals who have made significant contributions to the industrial engineering profession through outstanding research activity that has benefited practitioners, organisations, or other researchers.
Prof Tiwari said, βIt is a rare honour for any professional working in the field of industrial engineering. And a great pride in being the first Indian working in India to receive it.β Even though many Indians have been recipients of this award, they all are working in the United States. Industrial engineering is quite a broad field that covers various domains such as operations, management, logistics and supply chain management, decision support tools among all.
