IIM Mumbai's upcoming courses will be available on the Swayam portal, a national online education platform, as part of the institute's ongoing efforts to upskill professionals and students in a rapidly evolving sector.

IIM Mumbai Director Manoj Kumar Tiwari announced the institute’s plans to launch of six new online courses aimed at revolutionizing the logistics and supply chain management sector during a media interaction. The courses will be available on the Swayam portal, a national online education platform, as part of the institute's ongoing efforts to upskill professionals and students in a rapidly evolving sector.

New Courses to Focus on Tech-Driven Logistics Landscape

The six new online courses will cover a range of innovative topics, designed to foster expertise in modern, technology-driven logistics. The courses will address the growing need for digital transformation in logistics and supply chain management. These include:

  • AI/ML in Port Management
  • Supply Chain Digitisation
  • Role of Blockchain in Supply Chain Transformation
  • E-commerce Supply Chain
  • Cybersecurity in Supply Chain
  • Digital Infrastructure and Technology in Supply Chain Management

These courses aim to equip professionals with the skills needed to navigate the tech-centric logistics industry, which is expected to witness significant growth in the coming years.

Previous Success and Ongoing Efforts in Supply Chain Training

IIM Mumbai has already established a reputation for its contribution to logistics and supply chain education. The institute’s Digital Supply Chain course, already running on Swayam, has helped 3,500 students benefit from a deep dive into this crucial sector. Moreover, IIM Mumbai has conducted 14 online courses for both industry personnel and students in collaboration with various educational institutes like BITS Pilani and IIT BHU, as well as companies such as Flipkart and Accenture.

Through its efforts, IIM Mumbai has trained over 25,000 professionals and aspirants over the last two years, offering micro-credit courses of 15 to 30 hours. These courses focus on real-world case studies and sharing valuable industry experiences. The institute has also partnered with the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan—a central government initiative designed to connect transportation modes with logistics infrastructure.

LEAPS 2024 Award Win

In a recent achievement, IIM Mumbai was awarded the Logistics Excellence, Advancement & Performance Shield (LEAPS) 2024, securing first place in the ‘Institutions: Education and Skill Development’ category. The award recognizes the institute’s outstanding contributions to the logistics ecosystem and highlights its innovative practices. IIM Mumbai was ranked first out of 34 participants in this category.
