TNEA to Witness Record Registrations, Partly Due to NEET Paper Leak Controversy

It is speculated that the number of registrations is expected to cross the 3 lakh mark, breaking the previous year's record. The reason behind the surge in engineering applications in the state has been partly attributed to the postponement of NEET following reported irregularities. This is the most likely reason for candidates leaving the medical option behind and choosing engineering courses.

Q:   When will the counselling dates be announced for TNEA?
A:

Q:   What is the TNEA supplementary counselling?
A:
The Tamil Nadu engineering admission supplementary counselling is conducted by TNEA after normal counseling. TNEA Supplementary Counseling process is done for those students who failed their 12th grade. This is done later so that these students can pass and attend admission counselling again. However, anyone can participate in this counselling. TNEA-qualified students can attend this counselling even after getting a college allocation and making a fee payment if they want to change colleges. This supplementary counselling process is done after the 4th round of TNEA counseling. Also, those students who had joined other courses, such as arts, but now want to change to engineering can attend this counselling to get into an engineering college. The procedure is similar to regular TNEA counseling, and you just have to register again after the date announcement.

Though AICTE is yet to approve the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admission 2026 counselling dates, sources have claimed that the process will be initiated in the second week of July. Classes will commence by September 2026.

Tamil Nadu’s engineering admissions process is among the largest state-level technical admission processes in the country. As per sources, as of June 3, a total of 2,95,080 students have registered for TNEA. The registration will close tomorrow, and the document upload facility will be open until June 6 at tneaonline.org.
