The first batch of the College of Nursing at the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida, has started attending its BSc Nursing classes on Monday.
The College of Nursing at the Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida, has started its first batch of BSc Nursing on Monday. This is the first government nursing college in Gautam Budh Nagar. It received the Uttar Pradesh Nurses and Midwives Council's approval to start the BSc nursing course in November last year.
The total student intake of the course is 60 and the admissions were carried out based on the entrance examination conducted by the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University (ABVMU), Lucknow in December 2021 as the college is affiliated with ABVMU.
Dr (brig) R K Gupta, Director of GIMS has said “Currently, only 48 students have been granted admission after the first round of counselling. The rest of the seats will be filled after the second round of counselling,” as reported by Hindustan Times.
“The students were informed about the institute and the nursing infrastructure here. In order to provide top most education to the students of nursing college, GIMS is equipped with advanced skill lab, community health nursing and nutrition laboratory and child health nursing laboratory as well,” said Dr Gupta.
He added that four faculty members have also been appointed for the BSc nursing course. “The establishment of this school will benefit the medical fraternity and also provide more employment to nursing aspirants in the state as well as in Delhi-NCR,” he said.
At GIMS, the new batch of MBBS students began taking classes on February 14 and the medical institute is all set to start a paramedical college with 40 seats soon, he added.
