Delhi University to Commence Academic Session by July 21
DU offers 79 undergraduate programs and 183 BA course combinations across 69 colleges, with nearly 71,000 seats available for admission.
Delhi University has announced that its academic session for 2024-25 will commence on July 21st, with a tentative start date of August 1st for all courses. "However, we are looking at various situations but definitely we would commence our academic session by August 1 for all the courses," said Delhi University Registrar, Dr. Vikas Gupta.
Dr. Gupta elaborated that while the university is committed to starting by August 1st, there is a possibility that the session could begin a week earlier, depending on the finalization of the academic calendar and the timely announcement of entrance test results. This flexibility is part of the university’s broader strategy to ensure a smooth transition into the new academic year amidst the various logistical challenges.
The university has also indicated potential changes in its fee structure regulations. Currently, the fee structure is independently decided by each college, though the university has issued guidelines. Dr. Gupta mentioned that Delhi University might take a more active role in regulating these fees in the future to ensure uniformity and fairness across all its affiliated colleges.
The announcement comes on the heels of the launch of the University of Delhi’s Undergraduate (UG) admission policy for the 2024-25 academic session on May 28. The university has introduced a new "Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS)" for its admissions process. This system is part of a comprehensive plan to streamline and standardize admissions across its various programs and colleges.
The first phase of the CSAS registration began on May 28, 2024. This phase involves a straightforward registration process where candidates need to submit their personal details and Class XII academic scores. An essential requirement for applying to CSAS (UG) 2024 is the CUET (UG) 2024 application number. The integration of the candidate's name, signature, and photograph from the CUET (UG) 2024 portal ensures a seamless and error-free registration process.
Dr. Gupta shared that the university offers a wide array of undergraduate programs, with 79 distinct programs and 183 combinations available in BA courses alone, across 69 colleges. The total number of seats available for undergraduate admissions is close to 71,000, providing ample opportunities for aspiring students.
The university’s admission process is designed to be merit-based, relying heavily on the scores obtained in the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) (UG) 2024. This standardized testing approach aims to maintain a fair and transparent admission process. The second phase of the CSAS will be launched after the declaration of CUET results, which will include further steps in the admission process and allocation of seats based on merit and preferences indicated by the students.
