DU Admissions 2023: CBSE students grab 80% seats in first round; Only 1 Transgender in the list

Once again students from the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) are among 80 percent of the candidate's allocated seats by Delhi University in its first allocation round of Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS)- UG- 2023. DU announced its first allocation for undergraduate courses on August 1, 2023.

Replacing the cut-off system with CSAS based on CUET- UG score for seat allocation for its undergraduate courses, Delhi University is the first choice for CBSE students. The ratio male compared to female is also tilted towards female candidates with over 45,000 seats getting allocated to female candidates.

The University of Delhi which close to 70,000 undergraduate seats in various UG courses like B.Com (Hons), B.A. (Hons), B.Sc., etc has announced its First Allocation round. Allocations have been done in all Programs, in all Colleges, except in those programs where the eligibility includes Performance/ Practical tests.

DU's first choice of CBSE Students

In its first round, 202416 eligible candidates were considered for allocation based on their preferences of Program and College Combinations. A total of 85,853 allocations have been done in the First CSAS round itself. This includes allocation to all Programs in all Colleges in UR, SC, ST, OBC(NCL), EWS and two supernumerary quotas, PwBD and Kashmiri Migrants.

Of these 71,578 seats have been allocated to students from CBSE Board, 3028 students are from CISCE, Over 2300 from Bihar Board, a little over 2000 from UP Board and 1500 from Rajasthan Board.

7042 candidates got their First preference. About 22000 candidates have been allocated a seat from their first five preferences.

Male vs Female

Of the total allocation of 85,853 seats; 45287 are female candidates, while there are 40,565 male candidates and one transgender candidate.

The Candidates who are offered a seat in the First Round must complete the admission formalities by the stipulated time. Only the candidates who would complete their admission process including payment of fees, will be able to opt for β€œUpgrade” to participate in the second round.
