Jamia Millia Islamia University Introduces New Departments: Law, Dental Sciences, and Medical Sciences
This expansion brings the total number of departments at JMI to forty-seven (47).
Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) has announced the establishment of three new departments, signaling a substantial expansion in its academic offerings. The new departments include the Department of Law under the Faculty of Law, the Department of Dental Sciences, and the Department of Medical Sciences under the Faculty of Dentistry. This expansion brings the total number of departments at JMI to forty-seven (47).
The establishment of these new departments received a crucial stamp of approval from the President of India, who serves as the Visitor of the university. The approval came in the form of amendments to the existing Statute 20 of JMI, enabling the creation of these departments. The Ministry of Education (Department of Higher Education), Government of India, officially conveyed the Visitor's approval to the university.
Jamia Millia Islamia University, located in New Delhi, established in 1920, has grown into a prominent educational institution offering a wide range of courses at both undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) levels.
At the undergraduate level, JMI offers a variety of courses across disciplines such as Humanities, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Engineering, and Technology. Some of its flagship UG programs include Bachelor of Arts (BA), Bachelor of Science (BSc), Bachelor of Commerce (BCom), Bachelor of Technology (BTech), and Bachelor of Education (BEd), among others.
For postgraduate students, JMI provides an array of specialized programs catering to diverse interests and career aspirations. These include Master of Arts (MA), Master of Science (MSc), Master of Commerce (MCom), Master of Technology (MTech), Master of Business Administration (MBA), and Master of Education (MEd), among numerous others.
The addition of the Department of Law, Department of Dental Sciences, and Department of Medical Sciences underscores JMI's commitment to offering comprehensive educational opportunities and meeting the evolving needs of society.
