JMI Signs Agreement with DGR, Ministry of Defence Regarding Training Courses for Officers
The MoU between JMI and DGR testifies to a commitment to academic collaboration along with fostering the educational and technical advancement of defence personnel and officers. The Resettlement programmes by JMU will help defence personnel, who retire early from service, to undertake a second career in national life.
Jamia Millia Islamia, on July 3, 2024, signed an agreement with the Directorate General Resettlement (DGR), Ministry of Defence, Government of India to offer training courses to personnel and officers associated with the Defence sector. The agreement was signed at JMI's Vice Chancellor's office. As per the MoU, JMI will offer Resettlement Courses provided for Service Personnel, including Officers, JCOs, ORs (whether currently serving or retired) and their widows. The courses are at diploma and certificate levels ranging from three to six months in duration.
Prof. Mohammad Shakeel, Vice-Chancellor of JMI, highlighted their delight in collaboration with DGR saying " The potential for mutual benefit through joint collaborative projects, where DGR can share its expertise with JMI students while benefiting from the university's resources and capabilities is a great opportunity. Further, he defined his dedication to supporting defence personnel with knowledge generation and examination to enhance their intellectual and training agendas.
Further, Jaideep Singh from DGR shared his emotions and appreciated the collaboration with JMI acknowledging the academics of JMI and its history in nation-building and its growing prestige for academic excellence in India. He shared his regards for Jamia for its visionary approach in driving this alliance possible under the supervision of Prof. Mohammad Shakeel, Vice-Chancellor of JMI.
