UGC Releases List of Student Ambassadors to Enhance Student Participation in NEP Implementation

UGC has released the list of student ambassadors for academic reforms in the transformation of higher education in India and also to enhance student participation in the implementation of NEP 2020. 

UGC Notification

University Grants Commission (UGC) has released the list of student ambassadors for academic reforms on the official website. The student ambassador, also called NEP Saarthi will ensure students' participation in transforming higher education in India. Besides, the student ambassador will also create awareness of various reforms in higher education. 

Through this initiative, the commission is aiming to foster an environment where students can engage the community in participating and implementing the provisions of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. 

NEP Saarthi - Details Mentioned 

The below-mentioned pdf contains the names, details and the respective institute of the student ambassador. As per the notification, 725 students from 117 HEIs have been nominated as student ambassadors.

"As per Clause 3, 4 & 5 of UGC NEP SAARTHI Guidelines; undertaking submitted by Higher Education Institutions (HEls); and approval of the Competent Authority of UGC; the following participants have been nominated as NEP SAARTHI. The details of the roles and responsibilities of SAARTHI are enclosed herewith." The official notification reads.

The list of NEP Saarthi also includes the state-wise student ambassadors. As per the list, 21 Saarthi from Andhra Pradesh, 11 from Arunachal Pradesh, 17 from Assam, 12 from Bihar, 12 from Chhattisgarh, 4 from Delhi, 62 from Gujrat, 21 from Haryana, 17 from Himachal Pradesh, 45 from Jharkhand, 41 from Karnataka, 9 from Kerala, 50 from Madhya Pradesh, 84 from Maharashtra have been selected among others.
