Yogesh Singh to assume charge as new Delhi University Vice-Chancellor today

Yogesh Singh was appointed as the 23rd vice-chancellor of Delhi University in September. He will take over Yogesh Tyagi, who was suspended last October over allegations of irregularities and dereliction of duty.
Newly-appointed vice-chancellor of Delhi University (DU) Yogesh Singh will assume office today at 3 pm. On Wednesday, Lt Governor Anil Banijal approved relieving of Delhi Technological University (DTU) vice-chancellor Yogesh Singh to enable him to assume office as the VC of Delhi University.
Yogesh Singh was appointed as the 23rd vice-chancellor of Delhi University in September. He will take over Yogesh Tyagi, who was suspended last October over allegations of irregularities and dereliction of duty. Since then, PC Joshi has been holding charge of the top post. This is for the fifth time that Singh has been appointed to the vice chancellor's post. Yogesh Singh also served as a dean in Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University from 2001 to 2006. He has worked as the vice-chancellor of the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in 2011. In 2014, he joined as the director of Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (NSIT), Delhi before starting his tenure as the vice-chancellor of DTU in 2015.
He is an NIT Kurukshetra alumnus and holds MTech and PhD degrees in computer science. He was reappointed as DTU VC for a second term in April this year. He has served as Vice-Chancellor of Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda (2011-14) where he was also reappointed for a second term.
Delhi University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh was on October 7 given a farewell at Delhi Technology University (DTU), and during his speech as reported by IndianExpress, he said, "When I had joined, all counters were zero. Now that Iβm going, Iβm resetting the counters again. What I mean to say is, if I have hurt anyone, please forgive me. Even those who have hurt me, I am forgetting all of that today day. Letβs leave all that behind."
