The controversy over national language erupted when a heated argument ensued between Hindi actor Ajay Devgn and Kannada actor Sudeep Sanjeev.
Sudeep said that Hindi is not our national language, reacting to this statement Devgn said that if Hindi is not the national language why South Indian films are dubbed into Hindi. Karnataka Chief Minister Basavraj Bommai came out in support of Kiccha Sudeep and said: “What Kiccha Sudeep said was correct. A regional language is the most important as a state is formed on a linguistic basis. Everyone should understand and respect what Sudeep has said.”
