IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, Jindal Stainless ink pact for R&D projects
As part of the agreement, Jindal Stainless Limited will take up research, new product development, environment safety and skill development along with IIT (ISM) Dhanbad.
The Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Jindal Stainless Limited (JSL) to carry out research and development on various projects in virtual mode.
IIT (ISM) to introduce executive development programmes in curriculum
As part of the agreement, JSL will support the institute in the form of paid summer internships to students, aligning projects for MTech students with JSL-specific requirements, and hiring envirotech and electrical/metallurgical graduates on merit basis. IIT (ISM) will also introduce executive development programmes in its curriculum which will be supported by JSL.
The agreement is in line with JSL’s efforts to promote industry-institute partnerships and opening collaborative avenues between scholars and industry technocrats for mutual benefit. Both partners will explore research and development opportunities for a plethora of technological frontiers such as assessing physicochemical properties and combustion characteristics of coal samples, ESG measures, pelletisation projects, water balancing, soil and geosynthetic studies, and so on.
IIT (ISM) Director Rajiv Shekhar said, “The MoU with JSL adds another milestone to our academia and industry collaboration. JSL is an industry leader and we are suitably poised to offer technical and operational solutions. This partnership will equip JSL with a rich understanding of optimising efficiencies and will be an opportunity for our students to develop necessary skills and amass hands-on experience.”
