IIT Roorkee conferred a total of 71 awards to meritorious students in under-graduate as well as post-graduate courses this year.
IIT Roorkee Convocation: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee held IIT Roorkee Annual Convocation 2020 via virtual mode on November 29, 2020. According to the official data released by the institute, this year, a total of 1889 students across 26 departments conferred a degree. Shri Ashok Soota, Executive Chairman, Happiest Minds Technologies Limited attend the convocation ceremony conducted by IIT Roorkee as the chief guest and delivered the Convocation address. The reports suggest that Out of 1889 students in under-graduate, post-graduate, and PhD courses, 939 students are undergraduate students, 677 are post-graduates and 273 are doctoral students. IIT Roorkee conferred a total of 71 awards to meritorious students in under-graduate as well as post-graduate courses this year.
NP Padhy, Dean, Academic Affairs, IIT Roorkee, said “We are delighted to host the 20th Annual Convocation that will witness the reminiscing of the achievements and key milestones of the academic year 2019-20. We congratulate the outgoing batch of students and hope they would continue to make the Institute proud.” Considering the ongoing pandemic situation, IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, and IIT Kanpur also conducted their annual convocation virtual mode. PM Narendra Modi attended IIT Delhi’s Annual Convocation as the chief guest and conferred the degrees to the students.
Meanwhile, in order to launch the Joint Doctoral Programme, IIT Guwahati collaborated with IIT (BHU) Varanasi. This Joint PhD program will come into effect in July 2021. This is the first time in the nation that two IITs have come together to offer a joint degree program, according to the Directors of both the Institutes.
