Covid-19 Scare: RV College of Architecture and Engineering's hostel gets sealed

A cluster of Covid-19 has been found in the hostel of RV College of Architecture and Engineering, the hostel has been sealed to curb the spread of the virus.

After 13 Covid cases were found in the hostel of RV College of Architecture and Engineering in Srinivasanagar, Rajarajeshwari Nagar, Bengaluru, the hostel has been sealed for the time being.

Reportedly, four students are from RV College of Architecture, and nine are from RV College of Engineering. All are in the age group of 18 to 22 years, as reported by Indian Express.

Most of these students are asymptomatic, and under home isolation, said BBMP health officials.

“There was an exhibition at the college last week, and students from other colleges also participated in it. After that, a few students reported Covid symptoms, including fever and cold. When symptomatic students and their primary contacts were tested, 13 reports came positive. Their samples have been sent for genome sequencing and reports are awaited,” officials said.

Bengaluru clusters jump to 27

With this new Covid cluster found in the the hostel of RV College of Architecture and Engineering, the total clusters in Bengaluru is 27. Among these, 21 clusters are in apartments in Mahadevapura zone, one in apartment and one in hostel in RR Nagar zone, two in apartments in Yelahanka zone, and two in schools in Dasanapura.

On Sunday, positivity rate touched 3.8% with 588 new cases. BBMP is testing an average of 17,000 samples a day. Karnataka had reported 623 new cases and one death on Sunday, as per the state health department.
