Kerala medicos returned from Ukraine not pleased with Russia's offer
Russia has offered that the Indian medical students evacuated from Ukraine can continue their medical education in Russian universities, the students who returned to Kerala are not interested in the offering.
As per the latest developments, Russia has offered the Indian medical students evacuated from Ukraine an opportunity to continue their studies in Russian universities. However, as per reports, the students and their parents are not excited about this opportunity as the medical degrees from Russia are not being accepted in the United States, United Kingdom and many other European countries and also due to the ongoing war, the students opine that the county is not conducive for studies either. Another objection is the parents don't want to send their kids again to the risky zones due to war, as reported by Deccan Herald.
Moreover, the offer came from a Russian Mission official and not from the Centre or Kerala government. Some of the parents have contacted the Russian Honorary Consulate in Thiruvananthapuram and did not get a favourable response.
The Background
The Indian medical students evacuated from Ukraine and their parents are worried about the future of these students as their studies have been disrupted due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. They have been protesting and demanding the opportunity to continue their practical training in India. At present, the National Medical Commission (NMC) doesn't have any guidelines to accommodate these students but after the direction from Supreme Court, the health ministry is working on finding a way out.
Russian Deputy Chief of Mission to India Roman Babushkin offered this opportunity during the interaction with media and said that students can choose to study in Russian universities if they wish so. However, parents and students are waiting for a favourable response from the Centre as they are more interested in continuing studies in India.
