The last date to register for NLSAT PhD 2023 for admission to PhD law, interdisciplinary programmes at NLSIU is April 6, 2023.

National Law School of India University (NLSIU) is all set to conduct the National Law School Admission Test - PhD (NLSAT PhD) 2023 for admission to PhD law and PhD interdisciplinary programmes for the academic session 2023-24 on April 30, 2023. Interested law aspirants can apply at the official website - nls.ac.in, latest by April 6, 2023.

The registration process started on January 16, 2023. An application fee of INR 3000 needs to be paid during the submission of the application form. The candidates must submit the application form duly filled up along with a research proposal of nearly 6-8 pages.

The maximum number of PhD seats for the Academic Year 2023-24 is 8 including 4 in PhD (Law) and 4 in PhD (Interdisciplinary).

Eligibility for NLSAT PhD 2023

The eligibility requirements of PhD (Law) programme are:

  •  5-year or 10 semesters or 15 tri-semester bachelor’s degree programme in law through the regular mode from a recognized university with a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade. 70% marks are needed for SC, ST, OBC-NCL, and persons with disabilities.
  • 3-year or 6 semesters or 9 tri-semester bachelor’s degree programme in law (LLB) through the regular mode from a recognized university with a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade. 70% for SC, ST, OBC-NCL, and persons with disabilities.
  • Masters in Law degree (LLM) through the regular mode from a recognized university having aggregate marks of at least 55% marks or equivalent grade. 50% of marks or equivalent grade in case of SC, ST, OBC-NCL, persons with disabilities.

Eligibility requirements of PhD (interdisciplinary):

  • Master's degree in any discipline through the regular mode from a recognized university having aggregate marks of at least 55% marks or equivalent grade. For SC, ST, OBC-NCL, and persons with disabilities, 50% of marks or equivalent grade is needed.
  • Pass certificates needed for the Company Secretaryship exam conducted by the Institute of Company Secretaries (ICSI) and have been awarded ACS while having an LLB degree.
  • Candidates who cleared the Chartered Accountants (CA) exam conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICAI) and have been awarded membership along with LLB degree.
  • Master of Business Laws (MBL) degree from NLSIU with a minimum 4 CGPA and a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university.
