National Law University Delhi's Pro Bono Club is organizing a Street Law Workshop on March 1, 2023. The workshop will be conducted by Prof David McQuoid-Mason, Centre for Socio-Legal Studies. The last date to apply is February 25, 2023. The course fee is INR 2000 only.
The Pro Bono Club of National Law University Delhi (NLUD) is all set to organise a Street Law Workshop on March 1, 2023. The workshop will be conducted by Prof David McQuoid-Mason, Centre for Socio-Legal Studies. Those who are interested can apply latest by February 25, 2023. The course fee is INR 2000 only.
The course will be conducted at the NLUD campus, no accommodation will be provided by National Law University Delhi. The candidates need to make their own arrangements. The application process is online only and no physical applications sent by post will be accepted. Due to the limited number of seats, admissions will be on a first come first serve basis.
The workshop outcomes will be that one should be able to describe what is meant by street law and how it can be used to teach about law and human rights, appreciate the importance of using interactive teaching and learning methods when teaching about law and human rights, prepare a street law lesson, teach a street law lesson.
About the Street Law Workshop's Instructor
Professor David McQuoid-Mason is a Professor of Law based at the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban; and an Advocate of the High Court of South Africa; President of the Commonwealth Legal Education Association; Visiting Professor of Law, Strathclyde University, Glasgow, Scotland; Adjunct Professor of Law, Griffiths University, Brisbane, Australia.
He has written two books and co-authored 18 books on aspects of human rights, law and democracy; and medical law and ethics. He has helped to set up Street law programs in over 45 countries. He has contributed more than 60 chapters to books and delivered over 300 papers at national and international conferences. He has been honoured by UNESCO for his work in human rights education and has been awarded DCL degrees (honoris causa) by the Universities of Windsor, Canada and North Umbria, England, for his access to justice and clinical legal education work around the world.
