Apply for NSD’s 3-year Diploma course in Dramatic Arts
The selection of students is done by means of a two-step selection process. First of all, the candidates have to appear for a preliminary test consisting of a written test and an interview which is held at 12 centres across the nation.
National School of Drama (NSD) has invited applications for 3-year diploma course in Dramatic Arts. The course is slated to begin from July 2020. It is full-time residential course aimed at training students to become experts in the area of acting, design, direction and other theatre-related disciplines. Overall 26 seats are available for the course. The selection of students is done by means of a two-step selection process.
Selection Process
First of all, the candidates have to appear for a preliminary test consisting of a written test and an interview which is held at 12 centres across the nation. The centres are Chennai, Bengaluru, Patna, Guwahati, Bhubaneswar, Kolkata, Delhi, Jaipur, Lucknow, Bhopal, Chandigarh, and Mumbai.
The candidates will be informed about the preliminary test through email. Moreover, candidates can also check it during March-April 2020 on the official website of NSD. Qualifying candidates will need to attend a workshop of five days in the New Delhi NSD premises in the months of June-July 2020. The candidates will be examined during the workshop and final interview which will be conducted by a committee of experts. On the basis of this assessment, the final selection of the candidates will be done. The study material and guidelines for the preliminary test or audition can be downloaded from the official website during March-April 2020. A monthly scholarship of Rs 8,000 will be granted to all the selected students to meet their academic and related expenses.
Eligibility Criteria
The candidates are meant to make sure that they fulfill the eligibility criteria. They should have graduation in any subject from a recognised University in India or abroad. Moreover, they have to show their participation in at least six different theatre productions along with document proof of the theatre experience, working knowledge of Hindi or English and a recommendation letter from at least one theatre expert.
The candidate should also have a minimum age limit of 18 years and a maximum age limit of 30 years as on July 1, 2020. After the test and interview, the students selected for admission will have to go through a medical test for physical fitness at NSD's New Delhi campus. Their final selection will depend on the clearance of the fitness test.
