JMI Entrance Exam 2025 - Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is likely to conduct the JMI Entrance Exam 2025 in late April 2025 for various UG and PG programmes. JMI Entrance Exam applications are expected to be open from February through March 2025. The JMI Entrance Exam 2025 admit cards will be issued to successful applicants at least a week before their entrance exam. To download the JMI Entrance Exam admit cards, applicants must visit the official website - jmicoe.in. JMI will start announcing JMI Entrance Exam results for different programmes separately towards the end of May 2025. The JMI Entrance Exam results will be published in the form of merit lists. Those examinees who make it on the merit lists will then be called for interviews or counselling rounds based on their respective programmes. Aspirants must note that JMI accepts CUET scores for several programmes. JMI also accepts JEE, NATA and NEET scores for relevant courses. Those who take CUET for these programmes do not have to appear for the JMI Entrance Exam. However, they do have to apply for admission to JMI's website. Q:   What is the JMI Entrance Exam?

A:

The Jamia Milia Islamia (JMI) entrance examination is one of the most famous and highly competitive mass communication entrance exam in India. It is an annual assessment conducted by the Jamia Millia Islamia University to shortlist candidates for admission into various undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and certificate courses offered by JMI. As per the eligibility criteria, candidates who have qualified in 10+2 with 50% minimum aggregate are eligibile to apply for JMI entrance examination. The minimum qualifying marks for the JMI Entrance Exam are 30% for descriptive questions and 15% for objective-type questions.

Q:   What is the selection criteria for JMI entrance exam?

A:

JMI selection criteria includes shortlisting of candidates on the basis of scores obtained in JMI exam. For some courses candidates are required to also appear for Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). The cut off for each course is released after the selection procedure is over and candidates are called for counselling and document verification. Candidates should go through the selection process mentioned in the e prospectus of JMI for their respective course.

What is the JMI Entrance Exam?

The JMI entrance exam is conducted annually for admissions to UG and PG courses offered by the university along with PG Diploma, Advanced Diploma, Diploma, MPhil, PhD, and certificate courses under various faculties/ departments/ centres such as Engineering, Architecture & Planning, Hospitality & Travel, Animation, Mass Communication, Humanities & Social Sciences, Languages, Commerce, Natural Sciences, Dentistry, Law, Fine Arts, Management Studies as well as Teaching & Education

Information about admissions through JEE, NATA and NEET scores is provided below.

  • For BTech: Admission to the B.Tech program of Jamia Millia Islamia is based on the final rank of JEE (Main) that is conducted by the National Test Agency (NTA). To be admitted to the BTech programme of JMI, candidates who fill out the online form for JEE Main 2025 must fill out the online Application Form of Jamia Millia Islamia separately at www.jmicoe.in.
  • For B.Arch: Similarly, candidates need to clear the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) conducted by the Council of Architecture, fill out the admission form for JMI and enter the NATA application number in the JMI form. The rank list is published based on the final rank secured in NATA, strictly as per merit and JMI Admission Policy. During the counselling sessions, candidates must bring the NATA scorecard for admission to the B.Arch program at JMI.
  • For BDS: Admissions to the B.D.S. program at JMI are based on the rank secured in NEET conducted by NTA. Candidates must choose Jamia Millia Islamia with the appropriate reservation category in the NEET application form. No separate form is required to be filled out at JMI or their website by the candidates. 
  • For Ph.D:: The schedule of admission tests for the Ph.D. program is notified separately. 

Note: Jamia Millia Islamia in collaboration with the University of Delhi also offers MSc (Mathematics Education) programme under Meta University Concept.

The JMI Entrance Exam eligibility criteria vary from course to course. The same for different courses is listed below - 

JMI Entrance Exam Eligibility Criteria for MA Mass Communication 

The eligibility criteria of the JMI Entrance Exam for this course state that a candidate who is a graduate in any discipline (in the 10+2+3 pattern) is eligible to apply for admission to the MA Mass Communication course at Jamia Millia Islamia University. Apart from this, the candidate should have secured at least 50 per cent marks in aggregate at the graduation level.

JMI Entrance Exam Eligibility Criteria for MA (Convergent Journalism) (Self-Financed)

AJK MCRC states that any candidate who is a graduate in any stream from a recognized college with a minimum of 50 per cent aggregate marks meets the eligibility criteria for this course admissions.

JMI Entrance Exam Eligibility Criteria for PG Diploma in Journalism (Hindi Medium) (Self-Financed)

The JMI Entrance Exam eligibility criteria for admission in this course require candidates to possess a graduation degree in any stream from a recognized college with a minimum of 45 per cent aggregate. Apart from this, aspirants should also know the Hindi language.

JMI Entrance Exam Eligibility Criteria for PG Diploma in TV Journalism (Hindi Medium) (Self-Financed)

To be eligible for admission in this course, aspirants should have completed their graduation from a recognized college (in any stream) with at least 45 per cent aggregate marks.

JMI Entrance Exam Eligibility Criteria for PG Diploma in Broadcast Technology (Self-Financed)

The eligibility criteria for admission in this course state that any candidate who has completed his/ her graduation with a minimum aggregate of 50% in Physics, Electronics, Computer Science, IT, BCA, or Engineering from a recognized college is eligible to apply.

However, a point to note is that only aspirants who have studied Physics and Mathematics in their Class XII are eligible to apply for admission.

For BTech, admission was offered to eligible candidates as per merit based on the final ranks of candidates in JEE Main 2025, for BArch, admission was offered to eligible candidates as per merit based on the final ranks of candidates in NATA 2025 conducted by the Council of Architecture. Admission to the BDS program was based on merit in NEET 2025 and conducted by the Medical Counselling Cell (MCC) of D.G.H.S. GoI.

The eligibility criterion for this course admission requires the candidate to have completed their graduation in any stream from a recognized college or university.

JMI Entrance Exam Eligibility Criteria for PG Diploma in Urdu Mass Media

For Urdu Mass Media course admissions, candidates should have cleared Class XII with at least 55% marks in Urdu/Persian/Arabic. 

JMI Entrance Exam Eligibility Criteria for BA (Hons) (Mass Media Hindi)

The eligibility criteria for admissions in this course at Jamia Millia Islamia University states that interested candidates should have secured at least 50% aggregate marks in their Class 12.

For BTech, admission was offered to eligible candidates as per merit based on the final ranks of candidates in JEE Main 2025, for BArch, admission was offered to eligible candidates as per merit based on the final ranks of candidates in NATA 2025 conducted by the Council of Architecture. Step 1: Register at the JMI 2025 admission portal or the Portal of Controller of Exam (jmicoe.in)

To fill out the JMI 2024 entrance exam application form, the candidate had to register themselves on the admission portal of the varsity by entering details such as

Once the candidate successfully registered, they received a mail on the submitted email ID, which contained a link to verify the email account, login ID, and password.

Step 2: Fill up the JMI entrance exam 2025 application form

After the candidate verifies their email account, he/ she can log in by entering his/ her Email ID and password. The candidates had to select the course type and course name and then proceed further. It may be noted that "a candidate was allowed to submit only ONE form for each program/group of programmes (With Combined Entrance Test). Multiple submission of forms for the same program by a candidate could cause rejection of his/her candidature," informed the official website. Step 3: Fill in the Academic Details

Candidates had to provide the academic details such as class 12 board/university name, year of passing, marks obtained, college name, division/grade, total marks and percentage for UG level program, and the details of class 12 and graduation for PG level program. Candidates whose results are awaited should be selected on the 'result awaited' check box. After that candidates had to upload the original marksheet of the last passing year/ semester.

Step 4: Pay the JMI Entrance Exam Application Fee

After completing the JMI application form, the next step is to pay the application fee. Candidates can pay the fee via online mode via credit card/ debit card/ net banking/UPI.

Step 2: On the homepage, click on “New Registration.” (If you already have an account. Use the credentials to log in.)

Step 3: Select the campus and course choice, course type and course name.

Step 4: Add personal details. Upload scanned documents. Add educational details.

Step 5: Choose the JMI exam centre.

Step 6: Choose a category. Have a preview of the JMI application form 2025.

Step 7: Pay the JMI entrance exam online examination fee.

Students who successfully fill out the application forms are issued JMI Entrance Exam admit cards a couple of weeks before the exam dates. The exam body also notifies applicants about the JMI Entrance Exam admit cards via SMS on the registered numbers. It is mandatory that the applicants carry their admit cards to the exam centres or else they won't be permitted to take the exam.

Once the candidates download their admit cards, they have to take a printout and paste their self-attested passport-size recent coloured photograph in the space provided. Thereafter, candidates have to carry their JMI admit card to their allotted exam centres. Candidates have to carry two copies of their admit card to the test centre as they are required to submit one to the invigilator at the time of the exam. JMI Entrance Exam 2025 Pattern

The JMI Entrance Exam Pattern is prescribed by Jamia Millia University each year. As per the pattern, the candidates need to attempt 200 questions in 3 hours. The question paper will contain objective/ multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and no subjective questions. The entrance exam for admission in courses offered at AJK Mass Communication Research Centre (MCRC) consists of two sections – A and B. Section A: comprises objective type questions from National and international political issues/personalities, General knowledge, Film, Television and other media, Art, Literature and culture etc.

Section B comprises essay-type long answers that reflect the candidates' critical understanding of contemporary issues and the media. This paper also evaluates candidates' skills in visualization, story-telling, and their creative aptitude. Aspirants who clear the written entrance exam are eligible to appear for the interview and portfolio submission round. Candidates must note that the test pattern for different programmes may vary. However, the basic structure like the mode and the time duration remains the same across courses.

JMI Entrance Exam 2025 Answer Key

Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), releases the JMI answer keys and response sheets to candidates appearing for the test. The answer key and candidate’s response sheets are made available online on the admission result page within three working days after the JMI entrance exam. Examinees can compare their responses with the JMI answer key and calculate their possible scores. The exam body allows the examinees to raise challenges against the provisional answer key. After considering the challenges made, a final answer key is published. Challenges against the answer key can be submitted within 48 hours after the answer key is released. The exam body will declare the JMI Entrance Exam 2025 results on their official website. The JMI results 2025 will be released in the form of a merit list. The merit list contains the application IDs and roll numbers along with interview details for some courses and the dates of completion of admission formalities for the rest of the courses. Examinees can check the results on the website - jmicoe.com. The result of the Jamia Millia Islamia entrance exam is announced separately for different programs and admission is given based on merit, an interview and/ or other components.
