What is FTII JET?
FTII JET is a national-level entrance exam conducted annually for students seeking admission to postgraduate and post-graduate diploma courses at two of the most renowned film and TV institutes in the country. A Joint Entrance Test (JET) is conducted by the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune, and Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI), Kolkata to shortlist candidates for admissions in the two institutes. There are two wings under FTII -
- Film Wing: It offers courses such as direction & screenplay writing, editing, acting, cinematography, feature film screenplay writing, sound designing and recording and art direction & production design
- Television wing: It offers courses such as directions, electronic cinematography, sound recording & television engineering, and video editing.
Students from across the country aspire to study film and TV at these famous institutes. Approximately 5 to 6 thousand students register for the exam every year. Relatively, the number of seats offered by the institutes is quite low. This makes the entrance test more and more competitive each passing year.
