Students enrolled in the Advance Management Programme in Public Policy (AMPPP) at the Bharti Institute of Public Policy, Indian School of Business, recently concluded their annual ‘Policy Walk’ in New Delhi from June 25 to June 27. Led by Dr Aarushi Jain, Policy Director, and Professor Anjal Prakash, Research Director, the cohort engaged in insightful interactions with key figures from various public policy domains.

Steven De Wilde highlighted Belgium’s transition from a centralized to a federal state, drawing parallels with India’s federal system and emphasizing economic ties between the two nations. BVR Subrahmanyam stressed the importance of data-driven governance and understanding regional disparities in national performance. Dr. R Balasubramaniam discussed the evolution of India’s civil services towards a citizen-centric and technology-driven approach post-1991 reforms.

Curriculum Integration and Program Details
The Policy Walk is integral to the AMPPP curriculum, designed to provide firsthand exposure to policymaking intricacies. The program, developed in collaboration with The Fletcher School, Tufts University, USA, attracts senior bureaucrats from government and private sectors. The current batch comprises 51 students, with 32 from various government services, including senior IAS, IPS, and Railway officials, reflecting an average work experience of 16 years.
The annual Policy Walk not only enriches the learning experience of AMPPP students but also fosters deeper insights into real-world policy challenges and solutions. Such initiatives underscore the commitment of educational institutions like ISB to groom future leaders in public policy.
