In a bid to elevate the cognitive and soft skills of higher education students, Extra C, in conjunction with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), IIM Mumbai, and IIT Madras, has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This landmark collaboration seeks to formalize and orchestrate the National Inter-college Crossword Expedition (NICE) over the forthcoming two years, spotlighting the educational advantages of crosswords, as affirmed by AICTE.
Dignitaries Virtually Attend Signing Ceremony
K Sanjay Murthy, Secretary of Higher Education at the Ministry of Education, graced the event virtually. Emphasizing the significance of this collaboration, AICTE Chairman Prof TG Sitharam underscored its dual objective of honing students' mental acuity and soft skills while imparting knowledge about India's cultural heritage and traditional wisdom through innovative pedagogical approaches.
Promoting Crosswords Beyond Leisure
Dr Abhay Jere, Vice Chairman of AICTE, also lent his presence to the event. Crosswords transcend mere leisure pursuits, serving as potent mental exercises that stimulate lateral thinking, bolster memory recall, and deepen comprehension—a boon for students, particularly those in technical disciplines, as they gear up for future leadership roles.
Structured Approach for NICE Implementation
The MoU delineates the roadmap for organizing NICE over the ensuing two years, ensuring meticulous logistical planning and a well-structured calendar for both organizers and participants alike.
