The IIM Sambalpur youth summit saw the participation of around 400 delegates from 28 states, three Union Territories, and 22 countries, making it a truly international event.

IIM Sambalpur, in collaboration with Project Point, Odisha, hosted a transformative one-day youth summit on its campus on Monday. The summit, part of the International Youth Conclave for Tourism Development (IYCTD), was supported by India Tourism, Odisha Tourism, Vishwa Yuvak Kendra, and the Culture Department of Odisha, along with major industries of the state. The event aimed to foster leadership, youth empowerment, and cross-cultural dialogue, while also showcasing the rich tourism offerings of western Odisha.

Promoting Leadership and Innovation

In his inaugural address, Professor Mahadeo Jaiswal, Director of IIM Sambalpur, highlighted the institution’s commitment to empowering youth through innovation and leadership initiatives. He emphasized the significance of western Odisha as a hidden gem, home to natural landscapes, heritage sites, wildlife, and a unique tribal culture. “Through this initiative, IIM Sambalpur aims to position Odisha’s vibrant heritage, natural landscapes, and tribal culture as prominent global tourism attractions, while empowering the youth to become leaders of tomorrow,” said Professor Jaiswal.

A Diverse Gathering of Delegates

The summit saw the participation of around 400 delegates from 28 states, three Union Territories, and 22 countries, making it a truly international event. The delegates included students, professionals, and experts from various fields, all gathering to engage in discussions, workshops, and dialogues centered around tourism development, youth empowerment, and cultural exchange.

Distinguished Guests and Keynote Speakers

The summit featured prominent personalities from both the government and private sectors. Special Secretary of the Public Enterprises Department, Nihar Ranjan Das, Programme Convener of IYCTD, Bipin Mohanty, Co-founder of CYSD, Prafulla Sahu, and CEO of Vishwa Yuvak Kendra, Uday Shankar Singh, were among the key figures who graced the event with their presence. Their speeches further emphasized the need for youth-led initiatives in the development of the tourism sector, particularly in Odisha, which is increasingly being recognized for its cultural and ecological diversity.

The institute offers a two year residential MBA course admission to which is done through CAT, followed by a personal interview and the final merit list is prepared on the basis of the performance of the candidate in academics, CAT, Personal Interview and work experience, if any.
