FAIMA Doctors Association Urges Reconsideration of NEET PG Exam Pattern Changes
In a public notice dated May 4th, the NBE announced the introduction of mandatory time-bound sections in MCQ-based examinations in NEET PG.
The Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA_INDIA) has strongly advocated for the reversal of recent changes to the NEET PG examination pattern, expressing concerns over the suddenness and potential stress it may impose on aspirants.
In a formal statement, FAIMA_INDIA asserted, "The recent notice released by @NbeIndia regarding NEET PG is unacceptable as it is sudden, abrupt, and will increase stress among aspirants. Henceforth, we demand revocation of this decision."
NBE NEET-PG 2024 Notice- Exam Pattern Changes
In a public notice dated May 4th, the NBE announced the introduction of mandatory time-bound sections in MCQ-based examinations. NBEMS has decided to implement this measure across all its MCQ-based examinations, including NEST-PG, NEST-MDS, NEST-SS, FMGE, DNB-PDCET, GPAT, DPEE, FDST, and FET, conducted on a computer-based platform. This decision aims to enhance the integrity and security of the exams amidst emerging threats during the examination process.
The question paper for these examinations will be structured into multiple time-bound sections. For instance, in NEET-PG 2024, if there are five time-bound sections (A, B, C, D & E) in the question paper, each section will comprise 40 questions with 42 minutes of allotted time. Candidates will be required to complete the allotted time for each section before proceeding to the next one. Furthermore, candidates will not have the option to review or modify their responses for a section after its allotted time expires. The questions for the subsequent section will commence automatically following the completion of the allotted time for the previous section.
In a letter addressed to the National Board of Examination, the association elaborated on its concerns, stating, "We acknowledge the importance of maintaining the security and sanctity of examinations, and appreciate the measures implemented to address emerging threats. However, we, on behalf of the resident doctors, would like to express our serious concerns regarding the recent decision to introduce mandatory time-bound sections in NEET PG examinations."
The association highlighted the existing pressure and time constraints faced by NEET PG aspirants, emphasizing that the introduction of mandatory time-bound sections would exacerbate stress levels and impact performance adversely.
"We believe that such significant changes require adequate time for adaptation and preparation, which the current timeline does not afford. Therefore, we respectfully request reconsideration of the decision to implement mandatory time-bound sections in the upcoming NEET PG examinations," the association added.
Dr. Dhruv Chauhan, sharing his perspective on the new exam pattern, explained, "The question paper in these examinations will be divided into multiple time-bound sections. For example, in NEET-PG 2024, if there are five time-bound sections (A, B, C, D & E) in the question paper, each section will have 40 questions and 42 minutes of time allotted."
Meanwhile, the National Board of Examinations while announcing the changes in NEET PG 2024 Exam patter has cited the necessity to enhance the security and sanctity of examinations amidst emerging threats. The board clarified that the introduction of mandatory time-bound sections aims to ensure a fair and standardized examination process.
Such changes will be implemented in NEET-PG 2024 and all forthcoming computer-based tests conducted by NBE, as outlined in the official notice dated May 4, 2024. For further information, please refer to the official notice released by NBE regarding the introduction of mandatory time-bound sections in MCQ-based examinations.
