Haryana CM Khattar lays foundation of INR 1,200 crore medical college in Yamunanagar

He said that the Haryana government is actively working on expanding healthcare services by establishing medical colleges and hospitals in every district and efforts are being made to make Haryana a beacon of health.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar laid the foundation stone of an upcoming medical college with 100 seats and 500 beds named after Guru Teg Bahadur in Yamunanagar’s Punjupur village on Monday.

The CM along with school education minister Kanwar Pal, additional chief secretary Dr Sumita Misra, DC Manoj Kumar and other officials inspected the layout project and performed “bhoomi pujan”. CM emphasised on the importance of maintaining good health through activities like yoga, walking, and cycling, besides adopting healthy eating habits. The project was initially announced in 2021. 

He also mentioned the Nirogi Yojana, which aimed to target 1.41 crore people with an income of up to INR 1.80 lakh annually in the first phase. As many as 21 lakh people had already been examined. Officials said that under the project, a 100-seat medical college, a 500-bedded hospital, a nursing college, and physiotherapy institute will be constructed.

Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala directed officials to expedite the construction of the proposed Government Medical College and Hospital in Sirsa. He stressed the importance of adhering to the project’s timeline.

Presiding over a meeting with officials of the Medical Education and Research and Finance Department, Chautala conducted a comprehensive review of the progress made in the construction of the medical college and provided essential guidelines.
