Ma Subramanian, Minister of Health & Family welfare unveiled the oxygen plant at the Government Stanley Medical College and Hospital in Chennai.

The pandemic has highlighted the significance of strong healthcare infrastructure. After going through the deadly second wave of Covid-19, India is now working towards strengthening the healthcare system to deal with any such pandemic in the future.

The latest in the series is CapitaLand Group has donated an oxygen generation plant to the Tamil Nadu government through its philanthropic arm CapitaLand Hope Foundation (CHF). The oxygen plant is worth 1.4 crores.

Ma. Subramanian, Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Tamil Nadu has unveiled the oxygen plant in Chennai on Wednesday. The oxygen plant can support up to 100 beds at any given time by supplying 1000 litres of medical oxygen per minute.

TOI has quoted Vinamra Srivastava, CEO, India Business Parks, CapitaLand Investment, "The pandemic has highlighted the importance of robust healthcare infrastructure and we are doing our bit to further strengthen the same and help the state's readiness for the future beyond just this pandemic."

The original Stanley medical hospital is more than 200 years old and was formally established on July 2, 1938. It offers 43 courses with MBBS and MD being the most popular courses here. The college offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees, PG Diploma and paramedical courses. The departments include clinical, pre-clinical, paraclinical, super specialities and others.

The admission to MBBS courses is done based on the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) score and to MD (Doctor of Medicine), MS (Master of Surgery) and PG Diploma courses on the basis of NEET PG. For candidates seeking admission to MCh and DM, the admission is done on the basis of marks scored in NEET SS.
