Maharashtra: Central MARD thanks MLA Rohit dada Pawar for highlighting issues of Resident Doctors

Central MARD appreciated MLA Rohit dada Pawar for highlighting the issues of Resident Doctors.

Central Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) said on X, “CENTRAL MARD thanks Hon MLA Shri Rohit dada Pawar for again highlighting the pending issues of Stipend hike and irregularities and Hostel accommodation Of Resident Doctors of the State of Maharashtra.

No concrete solution has been provided by the Government even after a year.”

The MLA had said on X, “The demands of the 'MARD' organization in the medical college, which has a major stake in the state's health services, have been pending for several days. Even after following up often, the government does not pay attention to this. I request once again that the government should pay attention to this seriously and accept the demands of Mard!”

The MLA had written to Hasan Mushrif, Minister of Medical Education of Maharashtra. He highlighted in the letter that resident doctors of the state participated in the Yuva Sangharsh Yatra from Pune to Nagpur to draw the government’s attention to the issues of youth, students, workers, and young entrepreneurs. The number of resident doctors across the state is around 9000 and all these doctors provide services across the state.

Their issues include there is less than 50% of the total number of seats available in the hostels of resident doctors and these hostels are in remote locations, so new hostels for the residents should be constructed immediately.

He also added that resident doctors in states like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi get more than one lakh salary, however, in Maharashtra only 75 thousand rupees are paid, so the salary of the doctors should be increased.

The MLA also added that many posts are vacant in the government medical colleges which is resulting in more work pressure to the doctors working in these medical colleges, and some of them also commit suicide due to the pressure. Sometimes, patients’ relatives also attack them, hence the vacant posts must be filled immediately and security must be given to the residents working in these government medical colleges.
