Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will conduct four rounds of NEET Counselling 2021 for AIQ seats that include 15% undergraduate and 50% postgraduate seats.

Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has submitted in the Kerala High Court that it will conduct four rounds of counselling for All India Quota (AIQ) seats in National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) Undergraduate and Postgraduate 2021. It means that after the second round of counselling, vacant seats will not go back to the state quota.

Earlier there were only two rounds, however, the Supreme Court of India has allowed MCC to conduct two more rounds including mop-up and stray vacancy round. The court direction came after two Kerala students who scored comparatively high marks in NEET 2020 could not get admission to MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) because there were only two rounds of counselling after which the vacant seats went back to the state.

Other points highlighted in the MCC affidavit includes:

Fresh candidates are allowed in the first three rounds and not in the last round.

The option for up-gradation and free exit will be given only in Round 1.

Candidates who join the allotted seat in the first round will not be allowed to resign or participate in further rounds.

The candidates who will not join the allotted seat in the second round will be eligible for further rounds of counselling but they will require a fresh registration in the mop-up round only and also need to pay the security deposit.
